The 75th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated at the embassy of Pakistan in Doha Sunday with patriotic fervour.
A flag-hoisting ceremony was held on the embassy premises in the morning. The event was held amid a festive atmosphere and attended by hundreds of community members.
The community, which could not attend Independence Day celebrations at the embassy during the last two years due to Covid-19, participated in Sunday's festivities with renewed vigour and enthusiasm.

Ambassador Syed Ahsan Raza Shah hoisted the Pakistani flag on the embassy premises in Doha’s diplomatic area. The national anthem was recited in unison by the audience that had assembled on the occasion.
In his message on the occasion, the ambassador felicitated fellow Pakistanis on the landmark occasion of the country's 75th Independence Day. He said the day refreshes the enthusiasm and rejuvenates the resolve of the nation to work for the progress and prosperity of the motherland.

He added that the day "serves as a reminder of the immense sacrifices rendered by our forefathers to achieve a sovereign, independent Islamic State".
Further, the envoy said the day inspires all Pakistanis to serve the country with greater dedication in order to carry the national flag, which symbolises the nation’s hopes and aspirations even higher.
He praised the Pakistani community in Qatar, which he said was imbibed with love for the country and filled with the zeal to participate in Pakistan’s progress and development.
He expressed confidence that the Pakistani community, which is a "living bridge" between Pakistan and Qatar, in their practices and dealings would present the true image of Pakistan in keeping with the ideals and teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal in their true spirit.

The ambassador also expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the leadership of Qatar for hosting the Pakistani community in Qatar and providing them with excellent employment opportunities and living conditions.
He highlighted that strong bonds of fraternal relations between Pakistan and Qatar are based on historical bonds of a shared faith, heritage and culture.
The ambassador emphasised that the current leadership of both countries were committed to taking the brotherly relations between the two nations from strength to strength.
He assured the community that the embassy and its personnel would continue to serve the Pakistani diaspora with utmost dedication and zeal, and work for their betterment and welfare with commitment and devotion.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, and to express solidarity.
