Qatar Fuel (Woqod) Thursday opened Sawdanatheel 2 station, the largest so far in the country, as part of its preparations to welcome visitors arriving in Qatar by road from the other GCC countries.

Woqod managing director and CEO Saad Rashid al-Muhannadi, said in a statement that the Sawdanatheel 2 station on Salwa Road, will meet the needs of customers in the area and around it apart from helping greet guests coming by land, especially those to attend the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

As part of Woqod's green initiative in line with Qatar's 2030 vision for sustainability, Sawdanatheel 2 station has been equipped with units to generate electricity from solar energy in collaboration with Siraj Energy to cover part of the requirement. There are also electric vehicle charging units, installed in co-operation with the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
The 30,000sqm Sawdanatheel 2 station, which will function round-the-clock, is situated after the land border point, around 33km in the direction of Doha. A Sidra Garden store will offer daily necessities, a food court with a variety of shops and eateries in addition to two drive through restaurants.
A mosque, a centre distributing LPG (Shafaf) cylinders, manual car wash, oil changes, and tyre repairs for light vehicles and all types of petroleum products for light vehicles and trucks are among the other features of the station.
Woqod is currently overseeing the implementation of nine new fuel stations, most of which are expected to be operational in the second half of 2022, the statement added.
