Centre for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan) has launched a new wing of mercy programme to ensure the achievement of intergenerational solidarity, encourage intergenerational reactional opportunities through raising their awareness and affording the communication skills to them to further communicate with the elderly in a safe education environment to advance the culture of intergenerational solidarity.
Ehsan is considered one of Qatar Social Work Foundation centres.
The programme has witnessed considerable turnouts and reaction that primarily reflect the youths' keenness to participate in the events of this programme which essentially targets (male & female) strata in youth centres to ensure the achievement of intergenerational solidarity through strengthening social bonds and create better coherence among the communities, reinvigorating competitiveness spirit and innovation through the competition of values pertaining to the etiquette of dealing with the elderly category, in addition to setting the initiatives that are essentially aimed to strengthen the intergenerational exchange which largely focus on the elderly.
The idea of this year programme came through launching a training programme that operates to fulfill the requirements of a plethora of male & female students through providing the sessions that encourage them to participate, enhance the academic enrichment programme, in addition to offering the global experiences in the field of serving the elderly.
The programme had targeted about 100 of male and female students who are members of the youth centres from 10-14 age group, as the programme deals with numerous contests and events which are the questions normally raised by the elderly.
In addition, Head of Ehsan's Implementation and Follow-up Department Sheikha Ahmed Al Hareeb asserted the importance of the programme which gained its significance through the constant operation during the past 11 years that ultimately attracted multiple male and female students and entrenched the noble values with filial piety coming at the forefront, in addition to explaining ways of dealing with this vital category of the society.
