The promotional campaign of ‘Qatari Public Diplomacy in Latin America’ has been concluded.
The campaign was launched by the Global Public Diplomacy Network and chaired by the Cultural Village Foundation ‘Katara’ with the participation of a select group of ambassadors, diplomats, media persons, and sports and art stars in Latin America, together with the involvement of major news corporations, TV broadcasters, and media groups.
Oscar Leon Gonzalez, the Cuban ambassador, expressed his pleasure at the promotional campaign for Qatari public diplomacy in Cuba and Latin American countries.
He asserted that the campaign contributes to raising historical bilateral relations between the friendly nations, in addition to the role it plays in strengthening close co-operation in all fields. He also remarked that Qatar and Cuba observe the same principles of achieving peace and respecting international law.
Furthermore, the ambassador recalled the many historical stances taken by Qatar and Cuba, highlighting Cuba's appreciation for the stances of His Highness the Father Amir and the mutual high level visits that contributed to enhanced co-operative relations between the two countries in all fields.
The ambassador also commended the pivotal role that Qatar plays in finding solutions to disputes and conflicts, praising the State's efforts to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus internationally.
Furthermore, the ambassador highlighted the excellent health co-operation between Cuba and Qatar that consolidated in particular over the last two years of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Additionally, the ambassador praised the efforts by the Katara Public Diplomacy Centre during the launch of the campaign to support international dialogue. The campaign, which includes several nations from Latin America, has chosen Cuba as the first country to join this initiative.
The ambassador noted: “We support Katara Centre’s initiative in its promotional campaign of Qatari public diplomacy in Cuba and Latin American countries and I recognise its exceptional value globally for promoting friendly relations and peace among people”.
“We value the efforts of Katara and the Global Public Diplomacy Network in strengthening the relations between the Cuba and Qatar and I observe the fruits of these efforts in introducing the Cuban people to Qatar and its culture, especially in light of the nearing of the World Cup 2022," he added.
The campaign, under the supervision of Darwish Ahmed al-Sheebani, secretary general of the Global Public Diplomacy Network, includes broadcasting programmes about the overall renaissance observed by Qatar and its achievements in numerous fields, the historical and exceptional bilateral relations between Doha and Havana, in addition to broadcasting special movies about the initiatives. Additionally, the campaign also targets the preparations led by the State for hosting of FIFA World Cup 2022.
