Qatari photographer Ali Seif El-Din has won the first place in the Hamdan Bin Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Awards (HIPA) contest in Dubai, in the face photography category, for his photograph of a gorilla's face in the rain.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ali said that he anticipated winning this contest, which brings together an elite group of photographers from worldwide, and they participate in a variety of images in the axis of photographing faces, adding that he was keen to participate in the contest with the best photos he took in Uganda of the gorilla with its eyes closed in an open area in the rain.
He added that winning this contest is considered the culmination of his efforts in capturing photos of the wildlife, pointing out that he had been tirelessly working to capture the photo of a gorilla in Uganda by climbing the mountains for roughly one hour and a half.
He said that capturing wildlife photos is extremely challenging because the trips take several days to reach these areas and the job requires accurate high skills.
