Ooredoo has taken part in a recent virtual careers event as part of its efforts to reach out to the next generation of young Qatari leaders.
The UK virtual career day, ‘Your Future Career’, organised by the Qatar cultural attaché’s office at the Qatar embassy in London, was hosted virtually via Microsoft Teams with almost 700 students taking part.
A delegation of prominent Qatari employers from both the government and private sectors, including Ooredoo, was in attendance with the aim of showcasing the myriad job opportunities available to graduates as well as scholarship opportunities for postgraduate studies.
Ooredoo Qatar’s human resources team, represented by Mariam Ahmed al-Hayki, assistant director, Change & Culture; and Hamad Mohamed al-Nuaimi, manager, Talent Sourcing, delivered presentations to students participating in the event.
Presentations covered topics, such as the company’s organisational vision, its employment opportunities, and career development programmes, particularly those for fresh graduates. Presentations were followed by a Q&A session in which students were given the opportunity to have their questions answered in an interactive format.
Eman Mubarak al-Khater, chief Human Resources officer at Ooredoo Qatar, said: “As one of the world’s fastest-growing telecommunications companies, Ooredoo Qatar strives to be Qatar’s employer of choice and, to this end, we have invested heavily in our recruitment and development efforts in recent years.
“We continue to design and introduce new programmes to discover new talent, and then nurture this talent, ensuring young people can develop the skills they need to enjoy long, fulfilling careers. Ooredoo is a prominent example of a Qatari company with a global reputation, and we are proud that young people respond so incredibly positively to the opportunity to join the Ooredoo family.”
Al-Khater added: “We have at the heart of our corporate human resources strategy a firm belief in the potential of the next generation, and especially in the potential of the next generation of Qatari leaders.
“As such, we are committed to offering support through our services, through our initiatives and through the diverse range of job opportunities, training and development programmes we offer. The young, ambitious Qataris who attended this careers event are the future of our company and our country, and their enthusiasm and commitment will deliver great results for Ooredoo and for Qatar.”
2022 marked the sixth year of Ooredoo's participation in this event, with the telco leader having first taken part in 2009. Ooredoo’s ongoing attendance is firm evidence of its commitment to recruiting the most promising of Qatar’s graduates.
The company’s comprehensive Qatarisation programme, which has ensured that more than 43% of roles at Ooredoo go to Qatari nationals and its award-winning talent development programmes have enabled Ooredoo to make excellent progress towards building a fully knowledge-based organisation, well-placed to meet the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
