Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that the Jeddah Security and Development Summit comes at a pivotal moment for the region and the world, stressing that regional and global crises have taken their toll on humanity and the Arab world.
The president was speaking at the opening session of the summit that began Saturday with participation from leaders of GCC member states, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, and the US.
Al-Sisi said that the summit gives a clear political signal on the commitment of the US and the Arab world to enhance co-operation in a way that responds to the aspirations of the peoples.
He said that the time has come to work on ending conflicts and civil wars, stressing that looking towards the future can only happen after dealing with the crises of the past.
He stressed that the joint efforts that the region can only see stability with a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue based on a two-state solution based on the borders of June 4, 1967.
