Eid al-Adha activities at major malls and shopping centres in Qatar continue to attract many with live performances, acrobatic and roving shows, and various events for families and children.
Running until July 15 from 5pm to 9pm, a world-renowned African acrobatic circus show, coupled with balancing acts, and captivating music and dances, has become a major crowd puller at Mall of Qatar (MoQ).
Part of the programme at MoQ includes gift-giving for children, plus various activities such as face painting, play dough, arts and craft, kinetic sand, lego, and origami.
“We as a family are happy to see and take part in these very engaging indoor activities this Eid. The organisers have done a great job because a lot of people are enjoying it, and it helps children to stay away from mobile devices and be more active,” Filipino expatriate Dondie B said.
He added that they find mall hopping enjoyable with the Doha Metro since it saves them money aside from prompting them to walk than to travel by car.
At Doha Festival City (DHFC), several activities - as part of its Summer Festival 2022 - have also drawn many participants. Lined-up until July 16, some of these activities featured world-class performers such as bubble blowers, digital illusionists dubbed Les French Twins, football freestyler, dancing chefs, shadow artist, and jugglers, among others.
Being held at the mall’s Centre Court, the programme also includes arts and crafts activities, face painting, balloon twisting, Boogie Storm, and a meet and greet with favourite cartoon characters.
Besides a children’s entertainment corner, which is open from 3pm until the mall’s closing time, visitors can also take part in virtual reality and sports-related activities from 10am, according to DHFC.
The live shows at MoQ’s Oasis stage wowed audiences with presentations by hoola hoop performers, storm troopers, glass balancers, kitchen dancers, and football freestylers who enthralled the crowd with their spectacular skills and tricks.
Shoppers at Gulf Mall, meanwhile, got an entertainment treat with its illusionists and clown shows for three days, concluding Monday. Other locations where similar activities took place include Royal Plaza Mall while The Pearl-Qatar runs its Eid celebrations until tomorrow (July 13).
Residents and visitors, especially children aged 5-7 and 8-14, will have the chance to participate in an Eid LED light painting at Msheireb Museums tomorrow (July 13) and the day after.
