The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has recently organized the 5th Training of Trainers Workshop on Qatar's Dietary Guidelines, which lasted four days. The workshop aimed to train dietitians, physicians, health educators and nursing staff on guidelines and recommendations to standardize nutrition health messages based on the recommendations contained in the Qatar Dietary Guidelines.

The workshop featured numerous lectures and practical activities by MoPH specialists in the fields of nutrition and physical activity. The workshop is part of the implementation of the Qatar Dietary Guidelines Action Plan, which was launched by the MoPH in 2015 to support and promote healthy lifestyle.

The event also came within the objectives of Qatar National Nutrition and Physical Activity Action Plan and is in line with the National Health Strategy 2018-2022.

The Qatar Dietary Guidelines serve as a mechanism for implementing the Dietary Guidelines Action Plan which include recommendations on the importance of eating healthy foods from all six food groups (vegetables, fruits, grains and starchy vegetables, legumes, milk and dairy products and their alternatives, fish, poultry, meat and their alternatives), maintaining a healthy weight, minimising foods that contain high sugar, salt and fat, ensuring regular physical activity, drinking enough amounts of water, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of food preparation methods, healthy eating, and maintaining the environment as well as caring for the family.
