HE the Permanent Representative of Qatar to Unesco Dr Nasser bin Hamad al-Henzab inaugurated Ahmed al-Maadheed's Rimal Exhibition at the Unesco headquarters in Paris.
HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education attended the inauguration, along with a number of ministers of education in friendly countries, and Unesco Assistant Director-General for Culture Ernesto Ottone. Al-Henzab said at his speech in the opening ceremony of the exhibition that Qatar has placed culture at the heart of its developmental policy, out of its belief in the role of culture as a way in investing in the future, enriching cultural diversity, and the individual's role in development.

Al-Henzab added that Qatar chose to encourage youth in that regard, thanks to the efforts of national institutions that include Qatar Museums and the Ministry of culture, with the goal of building innovative and tolerant societies.





For his part, Ottone said that Qatar actively contributes to strengthening the role of culture in consolidating the principles of respect for different cultures and intercultural dialogue, through its national efforts in formulating effective cultural policies to encourage permanent and constructive dialogue between cultures, and through its efforts in Unesco, and its chairmanship of the International Committee for the Protection and Encouragement of Species Cultural expression last year. Al-Maadheed for his part said that the exhibition was an excellent opportunity to showcase Qatari art.
