Qatar participated in the 11th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku. The Qatari delegation to the conference was headed by ambassador in Baku Faisal bin Abdullah al-Hanzab with the participation of Qatar Tourism. The Baku Declaration, issued at the conclusion of the 11th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers, congratulated Qatar on hosting the major sporting event FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that hosting this tournament for the first time in an Islamic country would contribute to strengthening the tourism sector within the Islamic world. The conference endorsed the nomination of Qatar for the Coordination Committee on Tourism to implement the framework of development and co-operation among the member states of the organisation for the next four years ( 2022-2026 ).
