Qatar Fertiliser Company (Qafco) has won the “prestigious” Crystal Award for "Qatarisation Support" in the energy sector – under the companies category – at the Annual Qatarisation Award 2022 ceremony held recently.
The event was held under the patronage of HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi, also the President and CEO of QatarEnergy.
The annual Qatarisation award recognises companies that demonstrate excellence in supporting and actualising the goals of Qatarisation programme.
To emerge as the winner of the award, Qafco competed with several companies who submitted data about their Qatarisation progress during 2021.
HE al-Kaabi presented the award to Ahmed Rahimi, Qafco’s chief operating officer, at the event held at QatarEnergy’s headquarters in Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah district, in the presence of senior executives and representatives of companies participating in the Energy Sector Strategic Qatarisation Plan.
The Qatarisation Crystal Award, which represents another milestone in Qafco’s overall Qatarisation development strategy, recognised the company for its support for the development of qualified Qatari nationals and commitment in incubating quality Qatarisation.
Commenting on the achievement, Qafco’s chief executive officer Abdulrahman al-Suwaidi said, “This prestigious award is a result of hard work, dedication, and commitment of Qafco’s team. It is a testimony to the efficiency of our continuous Qatarisation efforts”.
He added, "We are very proud to be recognised with this special award. It is a proof of our commitment to develop a strong workforce in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, and our focus on sustainable development through creating a comprehensive Qatarisation strategy."
As part of its Qatarisation efforts, Qafco develops its national employees through effective and efficient development plans for national graduates, national employees in the organisation and nationals in talent pools.
The company gives special focus to monitoring and follow-up on national cadres’ individual development plans and providing counselling and mentoring.
Qafco also supports them with the best learning practices provided for the industry to close any competence gaps and prepare them for future senior roles as part of the company’s succession planning.
