Rwandan President Paul Kagame has said that Qatar, under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, is at the forefront of finding solutions to some of the most urgent challenges of the day, from energy security to humanitarian response in the Middle East and the global fight against corruption.

He said in his speech at the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali that he could not have thought of a better person than His Highness the Amir to invite as a very special guest to the meeting.
"His Highness the Amir is a friend and a partner to so many of us, and his country has deep historical ties to the Commonwealth,” Kagame said.
"The Commonwealth does not replace other institutions. It adds to them, and that is why we always have special important guests with us,” he added. “Let me recognise in particular His Highness the Amir of Qatar."
The president expressed his appreciation for His Highness the Amir's acceptance of his invitation to attend the meeting.
