Qatar Charity has signed a joint co-operation agreement with Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) in co-operation with Northumbria University to support and pay for poor students, as well as explore opportunities for studies and research and develop volunteer work among students.
Under the agreement, student cases will be referred to Qatar Charity who will then determine their entitlement to required assistance.
The two parties will work to explore opportunities for studies and research and develop volunteer work among students, in addition to promoting values of solidarity and social work among students and supporting students by creating an online account under the name "university student support project" dedicated to Northumbria University students to pay for them.
Qatar Charity's employees will participate in relevant training programmes related to development issues, humanitarian work, and the management of non-profit organisations.
CEO's assistant for the Programs and Community Development sector at Qatar Charity, Faisal Rashid al-Fahida, welcomed the step, saying Qatar Charity is keen to strengthen co-operation and establish partnerships with the relevant authorities in the local community, especially in the field of social solidarity, which supports the pursuit of university education for young people.
