Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality, participated in the agricultural exhibition 'GreenTech 2022' in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, which focuses on protected and indoor crops, and presents the latest technology in this field. The ministry's participation was represented by the Director of the Agricultural Affairs Department Yousef Khaled al-Khulaifi, and the Director of the Food Security Department Dr Masoud Jarallah al-Marri, with the aim of reviewing all that is new in the field of protected and indoor agriculture, which is considered the strategic option to reach self-sufficiency in vegetables, especially in the period the summer. The Ministry of Municipality also signed a joint co-operation in the field of developing agriculture under smart greenhouses with Wageningen University & Research, which is considered one of the world's leading universities in the field of agriculture and food security. The agreement was signed at Qatar's pavilion at the Floriade Expo in the Netherlands by Director of the Food Security Department Dr. Masoud Jarallah al-Marri, and Dr Sjaak Bakker, Director of the Business Unit at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. This agreement allows co-operation in the field of developing agriculture in greenhouses to achieve self-sufficiency in vegetables in accordance with the National Food Security Strategy, in addition to contributing to building human cadres through scholarships, training courses and technical advice.
