Qatar Chamber first vice chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari met Tuesday Jordanian Minister of Labour Nayef Stetieh, who is visiting Doha with his accompanying delegation.
The meeting, which was held at the chamber’s headquarters, was held in the presence of Jordanian ambassador Zaid Mufleh al-Lozi and several members of Qatar Chamber’s board of directors.
The meeting touched on bilateral relations in the fields of labour and the role played by the private sector in strengthening co-operation relations between the two countries.
Stetieh lauded the depth of the relations between Qatar and Jordan, citing the importance of the initiative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to employ 20,000 Jordanians in Qatar.
The minister praised the interest and keenness of the Qatari private sector to employ Jordanians and called for more co-operation between the Jordanian labour ministry and Qatar Chamber to encourage the private sector to employ Jordanians and to determine the available jobs and required skills.
Al-Kuwari said the chamber is ready to enhance co-operation with the Jordanian side in matters related to employment, citing the important role played by labour recruitment agencies.
He added that there is demand for employment in Qatar and that Jordanians have a good reputation in terms of efficiency and skill, noting that the chamber is encouraging the Qatari private sector companies to employ Jordanians.
