The Criminal Court has sentenced an Asian expatriate to one year in jail and ordered his subsequent deportation for stealing a car vacuum cleaner and some children's bags from the house of a citizen at night.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah recently reported that four persons in the Umm Salal Police Station area were initially accused of stealing those items based on the accusations and reports of the owners of the house where the thefts took place.
A police investigation showed that the above-mentioned expatriate was arrested while driving a pick-up loaded with the stolen items.
When asked about the items, he told the police that he had bought them from other four persons. However, in the court, the four other persons were acquitted and only he was convicted.
