ExxonMobil Qatar executives visited Qatargas recently to present its Covid-19 taskforce with a recognition award.
The delegation, headed by Dominic Genetti, president and general manager of ExxonMobil Qatar, was received by Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani, chief executive officer of Qatargas.
“It gives me great pleasure and pride to recognise our valued partner Qatargas’ Covid-19 Taskforce for their world class leadership and response through the Covid-19 pandemic and their ability to delivery exemplary performance despite all of the challenges. We are humbled by the remarkable resilience, inspirational care for their teams’ well-being and outstanding focus on business continuity.
“We realise that without the taskforce’s guidance to ensure the safety of employees and the workplace, Qatargas would not have been able to keep operations running as smoothly and effectively in the face of the challenges that arose, or set the leading example it has for our industry since,” said Genetti during the presentation ceremony.
“The extraordinary personal efforts and sacrifices made by so many members of Qatargas over the past two years have contributed to strengthening its reputation as the world’s premier LNG company. These efforts also extended to us at ExxonMobil Qatar, and I would like to express our sincere gratitude for all the support we received. We’re proud to be a Qatargas shareholder and partner and look forward to further strengthening our relationship and close cooperation,” he added.
The Covid-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges to the global community, Qatar and the energy sector. However, during this time of uncertainty, Qatargas’ taskforce played an instrumental role in helping the company act with foresight - directing its strategic thinking and the comprehensive risk management approach that was adopted to sustain business continuity, reliable and safe operations and the delivery of vital energy products to countries, communities, businesses and individuals world-wide.
“I would like to thank our partner ExxonMobil Qatar and Genetti for this kind recognition. Working together, supporting each other and developing long-term relationships allows us to achieve far more than we could achieve alone” said Sheikh Khalid.
Genetti and Sheikh Khalid jointly presented a token of recognition to Ziad Yehya, Qatargas’ corporate planning and enterprise risk manager and leader of the Qatargas’ Covid-19 taskforce.
Yehya said: “Qatargas’ Covid-19 Taskforce has been instrumental in helping the company successfully navigate one of the serious crises it faced, thanks to the trust and empowerment bestowed by our CEO and management leadership team on us as well as the commitment and collaboration of all our employees and stakeholders.
“During this critical phase and despite all the challenges, Qatargas maintained its production, delivered all the committed cargoes and carried out all scheduled maintenance works while the industry peers either suspended or cut short all or most of such activities. This has been an unprecedented accomplishment which was made possible by our unwavering commitment to the values the company stands for.”
