Chairman of the Council of State of Oman Abdul Malik bin Abdullah al-Khalili met with HE Chairperson of National Human Rights Committee Maryam bint Abdullah al-Attiyah, as part of her current visit to the Sultanate of Oman. The meeting dealt with a number of issues related to human rights and topics of common interest. During the meeting, the Chairman stressed the importance of the role of national human rights institutions in protecting and promoting human rights and spreading their culture at all national, regional and international levels. He referred in this context to the seminar organised by the Oman Human Rights Commission in co-operation with the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, underlining the importance of these seminars in strengthening areas of co-operation and exchange of expertise and experience between human rights institutions. Also, HE al-Attiyah met with Minister of Social Development of Oman Laila bint Ahmed al- Najjar. The two sides reviewed a number of social issues related to the protection of human rights.
