Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA) and Qatar Chamber signed Monday a collaboration agreement aimed at enhancing bilateral co-operation to achieve common strategic goals and support the economic diversification plans of the State.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of HE the Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar Free Zones Authority Ahmad al-Sayed and Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani.
The agreement was signed by Sheikh Mohamed H F al-Thani, Deputy CEO and Chief Strategy Officer of QFZA, and Qatar Chamber general manager Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi.
The agreement aims to boost co-operation between both sides to represent Qatar with the aim to attract more investors. It also aims to achieve joint strategic goals between both entities and provide support for the state’s economic diversification.
Qatar Chamber first vice-chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari, second vice-chairman Rashed bin Hamad al-Athba, and a number of board members also attended the event.
Sheikh Mohamed said, “We are honoured to sign this agreement with Qatar Chamber to co-operate and contribute jointly in attracting foreign direct investment to the State, and to affirm our keen interest in establishing local partnerships to assist in supporting, developing, and diversifying the Qatari economy.
“The linkage process through the Internet with Qatar Chamber and the electronic issuance of certificates of origin to companies licensed by QFZA is also in line with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 aimed at promoting the transition to a knowledge-based economy.”
Al-Sharqi said, “According to the agreement, the chamber will support registered and licensed companies in QFZA to benefit from the service of issuing the free zones’ certificates of origin. The chamber will streamline the process of issuing such certificates thanks to the electronic link between both entities, which aims to share information, issue certificates, and join hands in every possible activity that serves co-operation between the two parties.
Al-Sharqi praised QFZA’s role in supporting the investment climate in the state and attracting foreign investments, pointing out that the agreement includes many areas of co-operation like organising joint seminars, fairs, conferences, training, and sharing information and statistics, as well as conducting research and studies.”
QFZA provides a comprehensive and integrated platform that the Qatari private sector can take advantage of by working with international companies based in the free zones and expanding businesses and partnerships with these companies to enter new markets regionally and globally.
