Defending champions Al Sadd will kick start the 2022-23 season’s QNB Qatar Stars League (QSL) against promoted side Al Markhiya at the Khalifa International Stadium on August 1.
Umm Salal will take on Al Ahli in the second match on the opening day at the Al Janoub Stadium.
The QSL announced the fixtures for the first seven rounds of the competition yesterday, with the early-round matches scheduled at the FIFA World Cup 2022 Stadiums. Matches from the sixth round, starting on September 6, to be held at the stadiums. The seventh round is scheduled to conclude on September 14.
Dates for the remaining rounds will be announced later, after consultations with various authorities and partners, and without affecting preparations for the FIFA World Cup, a QSL statement said. Amir Cup champions Al Duhail, who were second behind Sadd in the QSL, begin their quest to regain the title against last year’s third-placed Al Wakrah at the Al Janoub Stadium on August 3.
Al Arabi, fourth behind Wakrah, will start against Qatar SC at the Al Thumama Stadium while Al Gharafa play Al Sailiya (Khalifa International) and Al Rayyan clash with Al Shamal (Al Thumama) in other first round matches.
