The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by the Department of Radiation Protection and Chemicals (Central Radiation Laboratory), participated in a workshop on co-ordinating approaches to environmental radiation monitoring, which was held at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Geneva in co-operation with the Arab States in Asia (ARASIA), QNA reported from Geneva.
The workshop aimed at exchanging information among the participating countries on how to prepare national programmes for radiological monitoring in the environment, analysing them, mapping radiation and carrying out sampling programmes. During the workshop, Samira al-Karbi from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change gave a presentation on Qatar's projects and capabilities in environmental radiation monitoring and its technical, human capabilities in this regard.
