The embassy of Japan in Qatar has announced that the governments of Australia, Japan, the US and the European Union will co-host an online symposium on the abductions issue, as a side event of the United Nations (UN) on June 16.
The event will see the participation of members of the Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, taking place from 3pm to 3.45pm Doha time.
The abductions issue is a serious concern for the international community, and through this symposium, an opportunity will be provided to the families of the victims from Japan and other countries to directly address the international community and voice their suffering, the embassy said in a statement.
Live-streaming of the symposium will be broadcast on the UN Web TV at http://webtv.un.org/ in English.
