The Labour Inspection Department at the Ministry of Labour (MoL) is conducting its annual awareness campaign at workplaces, as part of the MoL's efforts to raise awareness of heat stress dangers and the duty of companies to abide by the outdoor work ban from 10am to 3.30pm during the summer.
Work in open outdoor and shaded places not equipped with appropriate ventilation stands prohibited between 10am and 3.30pm, from June 1 to September 15.
The decision obligates companies and institutions that have worksites under direct sunlight to set a schedule specifying daily working hours in accordance with the provisions of the decision, and to place the schedule in a conspicuous place that is easy for all workers to view.
The MoL has warned company owners not to violate the provisions of the decision and stressed the necessity of implementing it in order to preserve the safety and health of workers during the summer period. Legal measures will be taken against companies violating the decision, it has said.

The campaigns conducted by the MoL are part of the enforcement of Ministerial Resolution No. 17 of 2021 regarding necessary precautions to protect workers from the dangers of heat stress during summer.
The ministry has shared guidelines on social media for preventing heat stress at work, urging people to share them with colleagues to prevent the effects of heat at the workplace. These include telling the superviser when one needs a break, and drinking at least two glasses of water every half an hour, among others.
