Smart test cars introduced by the General Directorate of Traffic are all set to be used for driving tests across Qatar, it is learnt.
The cars are undergoing trial operation at two driving schools now and will gradually be used in all such schools in the country.
Lt-Col Salem Fahad Ghurab, head of the Drivers’ Licences Department at the General Directorate of Traffic, told Gulf Times at the recently held Milipol Qatar 2022 that the car can intelligently monitor drivers' errors.

“All testing procedures will be done without any human intervention and the test result can’t be manipulated as the data is monitored live. The new car ensures transparency,” he said.
He added that the smart car is equipped with high-resolution sensors and cameras and has a map system that includes data on all roads in Qatar. The speed limits specified on roads are set in the sensors and any violation could be easily detected while conducting the tests.
The vehicle can also archive tests for future use as it is linked to a smart application that enables the driver to know and view the test result directly, and alert errors in case of failure.
It also transmits a live image to the authority concerned within the General Directorate of Traffic and this enables direct communication with the driver inside the vehicle.
The smart test car was among the various state-of-the-art technologies and equipment showcased by different Ministry of Interior department, including the General Directorate of Traffic, at Milipol Qatar 2022, which was held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
