The School of Economics, Administration, and Public Policies at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) has organised an educational trip to Geneva, Switzerland for its students from the Executive Programme in Diplomatic Studies and International Cooperation (first cohort).
During the five-day trip, concluding Friday, students will familiarise themselves with the working environment and methods of international organisations, including (the United Nations, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the International Trade Organisation, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees).
Students will also observe the interaction that takes place within these organisations between member states, and how international relations and interests are managed and learn about the experience of the Qatari mission in Geneva and its experiences in cooperation with international organisations.
Accompanying the students on this trip from the DI are Eman al-Sulaiti, executive director of the Administrative and Financial Sector; Dr Marwan Qabalan, head of the Executive Programme in Diplomatic Studies and International Cooperation; and Muhammad al-Etter, administrative supervisor of Executive Programmes.
Dr Abdulaziz al-Horr, director of the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, stressed the importance of these educational trips, which open a window for the students to view and learn about best practices and global experiences and provides the opportunity for direct meetings with decision-makers in major international institutions.
