Qatar Charity (QC) has provided many regional hospitals of Tunisia with advanced medical equipment, according to a framework agreement signed with the Tunisian Ministry of Health.
The equipment and devices were delivered in two installments to El Kef Regional Hospital, Siliana Regional Hospital, and Kasserine Hospital. They include those necessary for surgery, emergency, intensive care, recovery, and ophthalmology departments.
The project, implemented with the support from the philanthropists in Qatar, aims to improve the medical services of the hospitals, and reduce the economic burden on the families of patients.
Mohamed Chermiti, chairman of the Tunisian Medical Committee, thanked the philanthropists for their generous support and QC for its humanitarian work to help the underprivileged around the world. He noted the donated devices and equipment will have a positive impact in the health field.
Dr Sonia al-Wasiti, head of the Ophthalmology Department at El Kef Regional Hospital, appreciated the efforts made by QC in developing the health sector. She indicated that the medical devices and equipment will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the hospital's health system and improve its health services, as well as help the medical workers to provide better services to the public.
She noted that the devices and equipment delivered by QC are advanced, and will enable the medical staff of the ophthalmology department to diagnose diseases in a short time and reduce costs for patients.
