During His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani's European tour, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) signed two memoranda of understanding with Slovenian and Spanish investment bodies with the aim of promoting the co-operation and advancing investments between the State of Qatar and each of the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Slovenia.
QIA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SPIRIT Slovenia, which is the Public Agency for entrepreneurship, internalisation, foreign investments and technology.
It is the Slovenian governments business development agency.
The agreement was signed by chief executive officer of Qatar Investment Authority Mansoor Ebrahim al-Mahmoud, and acting chief executive officer of SPIRIT Slovenia Rok Capl.
The aim of the MoU is to encourage co-operation and strengthen the business relationship between SPIRIT Slovenia and QIA.
The Parties will agree to establish a mutually beneficial strategic relationship, and collaborate on identifying business partners for and investment opportunities in Slovenia.
In Spain, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) signed a MoU with COFIDES, the Spanish state-owned financial institution, aiming to focus on the identification of potential joint investment opportunities in both Spain and Qatar.
The agreement was signed by QIA CEO Mansoor Ebrahim al-Mahmoud, and chairman of COFIDES Jose Luis Curbelo.
The MoU will enable both institutions to explore business opportunities and investments in technology-enabled sectors, as well as in areas supporting energy transition initiatives, including renewable energy, clean transportation, and the circular economy.
QIA and COFIDES will share expertise and knowledge on opportunities that may arise from private or public stakeholders, including in the case of COFIDES, projects supported by Next Generation EU funding, in the context of Spain's recovery, transformation and resiliency plan.
