Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatar University (QU) will begin celebrations of its 45th graduation starting from May 25.
The graduation ceremony of the Class of 2022 will include graduates - bachelors, diploma, masters and doctorate- of the semesters: Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 in addition to those who are expected to graduate by the end of Spring 2022.
At a press conference on Sunday, vice president for student affairs, Dr Eiman Mustafawi stressed the importance of this event saying, “The annual graduation ceremony is the most important event of the year, as it represents a new era for graduates.”
As QU graduates its 44th cohort of graduates, the university continues to chronicle a long history spanning decades in which it contributes heavily to Qatar’s development and prosperity, through boosting the labour market with qualified graduates.
Dr Eiman added, “The Class of 2022 includes 3,436 female and male graduates in a variety of disciplines and various degrees, bachelors, masters and doctors.”
“The Council of Ministers have recently announced the easing of precautions regarding the coronavirus pandemic, to which the university quickly reacted by making a number of decisions regarding the graduation. This includes increasing the number of invitation for graduates’ families. For distinguished students, this means each graduate will be allowed four cards and five for each graduate for the individual college ceremonies,” she noted.
Dr Eiman explained: “The university is working continuously to strengthen and develop its programmes to meet the needs of the labour market in its various disciplines, in order to serve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. The university reviews the quality of its academic outputs and their suitability in relation to the labour market. QU seeks to provide students with skills and abilities that enable them to compete locally and globally.”
In response to precautionary measures, Dr Eiman said, “We have taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all; attendees will be required to present a green Ehteraz. For those who wish to wear masks, we will also provide masks for them at the ceremony hall.”
