All general public vehicles will be diverted to use the available car parking facilities for passenger pick-up and drop-off
Hamad International Airport (HIA) has informed passengers and customers that it will start testing the concept of limiting access to the departures and arrivals curbsides to authorised vehicles only, and diverting all general public vehicles to use the available car parking facilities for passenger pick-up and drop-off.
The trials will begin at 10am on June 13.
This is being done in the interest of customer experience, safety and security.
"During the trials period, and for the convenience of our customers, Hamad International Airport shall offer a grace period of 20 minutes, without charge, to ease passenger drop-off and pick-up within the Short Term Car Park," HIA said in a statement.
Payment for short-term car parking must be made at the machines located before the car park, on level 2. There are no payment options available at the exit of the car park.
In order to avoid delays or inconvenience, customers are requested to kindly pay at the building before exiting towards the parking.
"Hamad International Airport offers you a wide variety of transport options that seamlessly connect you between the airport and the city. The bus pavilion, taxi pavilion, Metro station, car parking, car rental and limousine services are all conveniently located within walking distance from the airport’s arrivals and departures hall. As always, HIA staff will be available to assist our passengers round the clock," the statement adds.
