The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has reminded tanker owners to install tracking devices before August 1, on their vehicles to permit their entry into sewage treatment plants.
From August 1, accepting applications or renewing permits will be stopped for tankers without a tracking device.
The requirement of the tracking device installation aims to monitor the tankers and ensure they discharge only at designated plants. This will be in addition to controlling their movement during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Ashghal said in a statement.

In addition to helping reduce violations of environmental laws, the new system will cut the travel distance for tankers by determining their locations and proximity to treatment plants.
Explaining how to apply, the authority said tanker owners who request for tracking device installation will be given a SIM card for each tanker through the Ashghal Customer Service, Salwa Road branch.
On receiving the SIM card, the tanker owner will be required to complete all data mentioned in the form provided and send it to the following e-mail: [email protected].
The device will be linked with the vehicle tracking system in Ashghal as soon as the information is provided by e-mail.
In case there is a complication, a member of the technical support team will contact the individual/company concerned.
For more information about the tracking devices, the required documents or the application process, one can visit the website, http://www.ashghal.gov.qa, and/or call 188.
