The Shura Council participated Tuesday in the Parliamentary Forum on Co-operation in Research and Libraries, organised by the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Assembly's parliamentary achievements in Asia, through video communication technology,QNA reported.
The Council was represented at the forum by HE Chairman of the Qatar-Asian Parliamentary Friendship Group Ahmed bin Hitmi al-Hitmi.
During the forum sessions, the participants discussed a number of themes, including the roles and tasks of parliamentary research centres and libraries, the opportunities and challenges for the rapid progress of information technology and its impact on the legislative and oversight tasks of parliamentarians, the parliamentary research centres' approach to empowering oversight capabilities, and the policies of Asian parliamentary research centres, which aim to increase the use of new technologies in the field of legislative and supervisory research.
