King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia led the well-wishers of His Highness and HH Consort of HH the Amir Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al-Thani upon their arrival.
The ceremony started with both Qatari and Spanish national anthems before His Highness the Amir reviewed the Guard of Honor. His Highness the Amir was also awarded a 21-gun salute welcome, after which His Highness and Her Highness shook hands with Their Excellencies members of the official Spanish delegation and ranking officials. The King and Queen of Spain also shook hands with Their Excellencies member of the official delegation accompanying His Highness.
Afterwards, His Highness the Amir and HM King Felipe VI of Spain viewed a military parade by the Spanish Royal Guard and the Royal Cavalry.
The two sides then held a meeting to review bilateral friendship and co-operation ties, in addition to exchanging views on a number of issues of joint interest.
The meeting was attended by the Consort of His Highness the Amir and the Queen of Spain.
His Highness the Amir and the Spanish king held Tuesday a meeting at the Palace of Zarzuela in Madrid.
At the outset of the meeting, the king welcomed the Amir, wishing him a pleasant stay in Spain and for bilateral relations further development and growth in all fields.
For his part, the Amir expressed his thanks to the king for the good reception and generous hospitality, adding that he looks forward to enhance friendship and co-operation ties between Qatar and Spain in different partnership fields.
The meeting dealt with reviewing bilateral relations and the means to enhance them in political, economic, commercial, and cultural fields.
The meeting was attended by a number of members of the official delegation accompanying the Amir. It was also attended by members of the Spanish cabinet.
The Amir, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher attended a luncheon banquet held by the Spanish king and queen, in their honour at the Palace of Zarzuela.
