The ministry further added that 1,570,018 booster doses have been administered to date, explaining that 89.5% of the total population are now fully vaccinated with two doses. In its statement, the MoPH explained that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines and the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with Covid-19 are either unvaccinated or had their second dose more than 6 months ago and have not received a booster dose.
It also noted that the latest evidence shows that the country has passed the peak of the third wave of the pandemic, as the number of daily new cases of the virus continues to decrease, noting that the support of the community in adhering to the government restrictions and Covid-19 precautions, in addition to the high vaccination rate, have played a significant role in reaching this stage and stabilizing the number of new daily cases.
The MoPH called for caution and continued adherence to restrictions and precautionary and preventive measures, and to contact 16000 helpline immediately if anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms, as early detection of the disease makes it easier to obtain appropriate treatment and increases the recovery chances.
