Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation have arrested a gang of five pickpockets, who hailed from some Asian countries.
Following complaints of the theft of personal belongings and pickpocketing in crowded places, a specialised team was formed to conduct searches and investigations and gather information, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement on social media.
As a result, the team arrested five persons, who have confessed to the charges against them.
Accordingly, the items found in their possession were seized and recorded, and the accused were referred to the competent authorities for prosecution.
The authorities at the MoI have called on the public be alert, take care of personal belongings while in crowded places, and report any suspicious acts by calling the emergency service at 999 or through the Metrash2 app.
