Members of Pakistani community organised a colourful event to mark Pakistan Day at Ezdan Hotel Towers.

Pakistan embassy’s Community Welfare Attaché Waheedullah Khan attended the event as the chief guest while embassy’s Political Counsellor Ali Ahsan was the guest of honour.

The event titled ‘Yaum-e-Pakistan; Azam-e-Alishan’ commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran by Raja Farhan. Asfandiar Ansari presented translation of the verses. Mohammad Idrees presented a naat (poetry in praise of Prophet Mohammad PBUH).

National anthems of Qatar and Pakistan were played on the occasion. Rana Anwar Ali compered the programme while Badar Sohail Khan and Fahad Ismail engaged guests in different fun-filled activities.

Welcoming the guests, Arshad Hussain said he was thankful to community members who gathered at the event enthusiastically. Highlighting the significance of Pakistan Day which is celebrated on March 23 annually in celebration of a landmark resolution that demanded for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, Hussain paid glowing tributes to leaders of the Pakistan Movement. “Probably this is the first large-scale community gathering after the relaxation of COVID-related restrictions. We are thankful to Almighty Allah for giving us the opportunity to gather and meet friends after a long gap. The specialty of today’s event is that it is based on self-finance where no support was taken from the sponsors. We are thankful to representatives of different forums and individuals who helped us in making the event a great success,” remarked Hussain.

Underlining the objectives of Pakistan Professional Community-Qatar, he said: “The PPC-Q is not a proper forum, but a digital platform aimed at connecting various Pakistani organisations under one umbrella for better coordination. I am very happy to see that we have all gathered today as a vibrant community under Pakistani flag. It was a long-cherished dream that has materialised today. Taking this opportunity, I would like to particularly thank Rana Anwar Ali, Fahad Ismail, Atiq ur Rasheed, Abdul Raziq, Uzma Ansari and Shahida Atiq for their role in organising this event,” added Hussain.

Congratulating his compatriots on the occasion of national day, Pakistan embassy’s Community Welfare Attaché Waheedullah Khan said that Pakistani community has great contribution in the development of infrastructure in Qatar.  “We are proud that Pakistani volunteers actively participated in the FIFA Arab Cup and will play an acting role in the FIFA World Cup 2022,” added Khan.

Jamshaid Bajwa regaled the audience by singing patriotic songs. Community members also presented national songs in chorus.
