The first-ever ‘Ambassador's Walking Football’ farewell was held at Al Jazeera Academy recently in honour of outgoing ambassadors Emmanuel Enos (Ghana) and Francois Nkulikiyimfura (Rwanda) by Qatari entrepreneur and philanthropist Farhan al-Sheikh al-Sayed, who is also the president of International Walking Football Federation of Asia and Qatar.
The event was attended by Walking Football Qatar general secretary Farouq Abdullahi Wase, ambassadors Khusro Sahebzada (Tajikistan), Arman Issagaliyev (Kazakhstan), Oscar Leon Gonzalez (Cuba), Isac Mamudo Massamby (Mozambique), Dayib Doubad Robleh (Djibouti), Farhan al-Sheikh al-Sayed, ambassadors Nkulikiyimfura (Rwanda), Hassane M'Bareck Boubacar (Niger), Dr Emmanuel Enos (Ghana), Francois Guillaume II (Haiti), Yakuba Abdullahi Ahmed (Nigeria), Mohamed Setri (Morocco), Goalkeeper Adam, ambassadors Milton Alcides Magana Herrera (El Salvador), Foday Malang (Gambia), Mahadhi Juma Maalim (Tanzania) and Dr Mohamed Habibou Diallo (Senegal).
According to al-Sayed, walking football is one of the fastest growing sports concepts in the world, with now even the ambassadors in Qatar showing great enthusiasm to practice it in Doha and also promote it in their home countries.
