According to calculations by specialists at Qatar Calendar House,, Monday, May 2, will be the start of the month of Shawwal and the first day of Eid al-Fitr for this year. The holy month of Ramadan will end on Sunday, May 1.
However, the legal decision on the start of the month of Shawwal remains within the jurisdiction of the Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Qatar, the Qatar Calendar House (QCH) said.
Executive Director of Sheikh Abdullah al-Ansari Complex, Engineer Faisal al-Ansari stated that the crescent of the month of Shawwal for the year 1443 AH will be born on the evening of Saturday, April 30, 2022 , at 11.29 pm Doha local time.
He said it is impossible to see the crescent of the month of Shawwal on the evening of Saturday, April 30, 2022 in the sky of Qatar and all Arab and Islamic countries, because the crescent of the month of Shawwal would not have been born at sunset on the day of sighting.
The beginning and end of the Hijri months depend on the movement of the moon in its orbit around the earth, while the beginning and end of the Gregorian months depend on the movement of the earth in its orbit around the sun.
