The Qatari Forum for Authors at the Ministry of Culture has launched a campaign on its social media accounts to celebrate World Book and Copyright Day, on April 23, as approved by Unesco since 1995. The timing of World Book and Copyright Day is considered a symbolic date in the world of literature, as it coincides with the death anniversary of a number of globally acclaimed writers, such as William Shakespeare, Garcilaso de la Vega, and Miguel de Cervantes. Since the announcement of this day, Unesco has been co-operating with international organisations concerned with the book industry, and has chosen a different city each year as the International Book Capital. In this regard, the forum invited its members to participate in the celebration of the World Book and Copyright Day by sharing their experiences and expressing their love for reading. As well as publishing through the forum’s accounts a set of information about this day, its importance and objectives, in addition to asking a number of interactive questions related to writing, literature and culture in general.
