The Supervisory Committee for the Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar has achieved another milestone, with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) completing the installation of 557 “palm-frond design” decorative lights on Doha Corniche.
Ashghal announced in a statement yesterday that a total of 1,210 such lights will be installed, covering a total area of approximately 10km by the third quarter of this year.
Ashghal signed contracts last year with local companies to provide decorative lighting poles to enhance the Doha Corniche and Central Doha areas. Two local companies are supplying locally manufactured poles to provide LED lighting on Doha Corniche from Ras Bu Abboud Bridge to Doha Cityscape Area, and along another 2sq km in Central Doha.
The design of palm fronds was chosen for Doha Corniche to match the palm trees along the area, while the tree leaf design was chosen in Central Doha to match the ongoing beautification and landscaping works.
