The day two competitions of the fourth edition of the 2022 Nishan Vodafone Ramadan Tournament continued successfully at the Lusail Shooting Range with the participation of more than 500 competitors in both the amateur and professional categories.
The community tournament is being organised under the patronage of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, where competitors are fighting for top spots in four classes – Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Archery.
In the men’s professional category, Usama Abdulnaser al-Shaiba took the first place with 344 points ahead of Mohamed Ahmed al-Rumaihi in the second place with 366 points.
Mohamed Abdulmohsen finished third with 334 points.
Shahd al-Darwish led the standings of women’s professional event with 329 points. Reem al-Sharshani and Ghalia Ali al-Malki secured the second and third places respectively.
In the men’s amateur event, Mohamed Khalid al-Sedaiqi claimed the first place with 329 points ahead of Abdulrahman Mohsen al-Athba who finished second (317 points) while Dadr al-Yousef settled for third place with 309 points.
Moreover, Aysha Ali al-Sada clinched the first place in women’s amateur event with 288 points while Ghada al-Ghamdi and Abdulatif claimed the second and third places respectively.
Qatar’s promising shooting star, Sheikha al-Benali spoke to the media and said: “I’m truly happy to be part of this fantastic tournament. I will do my best to keep up my performance high because these kind of tournaments will help every shooter to gain more effective experience”.
Similarly, Qatar’s shooter, Meitha Hamad al-Benali said: “It is my great pleasure to participate in such a high technical and strong tournament that has brought together top amateurs and professionals to fight for the top places.” He added: “This tournament aims to discover talented youngsters in the game as Qatar gears up to develop their skills and help the clubs and national teams to achieve quantum leap in the game by promoting this sport among the citizens and residents. We have noticed that the participation of citizens and the residents in the game has risen sharply in the last few years.”
