Doha Forum, one of the world’s premier policy gatherings, held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, has signed a partnership agreement through the Permanent Committee of Conferences (PCOC), with US-based Aspiration to become carbon neutral.
As one of the world’s first carbon neutral events of its kind, Aspiration will enable Doha Forum to gain carbon neutrality via its technology-driven carbon footprint analytics and its large, diverse portfolio of high-quality carbon credits, including its global reforestation programme.
Announced during the recent Doha Forum, the partnership will enable the forum to contribute to eight UN Sustainable Development Goals, including climate action, economic growth, sustainability communities, and ecosystem restoration.
Recently held under the theme ‘Transforming For a New Era’, Doha Forum gave particular focus to the topic of climate change and sustainability, among many others. HE Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater, executive director of Doha Forum, said: “Our commitment to carbon neutrality is just an example of the steps that all organisations and institutions should take towards combating climate change and a reduction in carbon emissions. This year’s Doha Forum addressed how we must transform for a new era, and climate change and sustainability is just one of the areas to which we must all adapt.”
Doha Forum reconvened for its 20th edition at the Sheraton Grand Doha, on March 26 to 27, bringing together more than 2,500 guests, including more than 200 panelists from 142 nationalities and 104 countries, who contributed to more than 50 sessions across the two-day event. Aspiration is a global leader in sustainability solutions for consumers, corporations, and governments, to oversee the execution of an unprecedented commitments to carbon neutrality around the world.
