Qatar Charity participated in a series of diverse and distinguished events and seminars on the sidelines of the Ramadan Book Fair, which began on Friday and will continue until April 16, in the western square of Souq Waqif, organised by the Ministry of Culture, QNA reported.
As part of its participation in the exhibition on Sunday, Qatar Charity organised a seminar on the topic of volunteers in the field, with the participation of Mohsin Fahad al-Hajri, and in the presence of a number of members of the public and those who had experience in volunteer work.
Qatar Charity will also display, within its pavilion in the exhibition, a set of valuable books that deal with the moral, humanitarian and educational aspects, and others that highlight volunteer work inside and outside the country.
Al-Hajri said that during his participation in the seminar, he reviewed his personal experience in the field of volunteering for charitable work and humanitarian relief, noting that he had a modest experience in this field for the brotherly Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.
He addressed some influential situations during his volunteer work and the provision of aid to those refugees in those countries, while living the experience and attending to the suffering experienced by the refugees in the camps. He stressed that some situations contributed to changing his lifestyle because he was greatly affected by it, explaining that what is transmitted through the media reaches a small part of the suffering experienced by those refugees.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), al-Hajri stressed that Qatar is a pioneer in humanitarian and voluntary work and highlighted its outstanding contribution to the delivery of aid to afflicted countries and people.
What Qatar is doing in providing this aid is nothing but a humanitarian and Islamic duty to support and help Muslims and the afflicted everywhere, he added.
For his part, Head of Projects at the Local Development Department of Qatar Charity Farid al-Siddiqi said in a similar statement that Qatar Charity's participation in the first edition of the Ramadan Book Fair includes presenting a number of publications in the field of development and volunteer work, in addition to the publications used by Qatar Charity in partnership with various authorities in the country and within its affiliated centres distributed in Al Khor, Al Rayyan, and the other centre for communities, in addition to activities provided by Qatar Charity within schools.
Through its participation in the Ramadan Book Fair, al-Siddiqi pointed out that Qatar Charity is displaying its publications on volunteeringe and the field experiences carried out by its volunteers as well as their experiences, whether at home or abroad, in addition to various other publications related to the ethical, humanitarian and educational aspects.
