Katara - The Cultural Village's Ramadan activities continue to evoke a good response from the public. The Mahaseel Market, which opens daily during the holy month from 8pm to 11pm, is among the major attractions as it offers an array of Qatari agricultural and food products.
Also, Katara hosts a number of popular activities and games for children. At Katara's southern side, there is a market that includes many shops offering traditional culinary products and clothes in addition to perfumes, incense and abaya.
The Katara PlayStation Championship 2022 is held at the southern side of the village from 8pm until midnight, in cooperation with Al-Taadoud Company. The tournament, organised by Katara for the fourth time, has recorded the participation of nearly 400 participants from different age groups.
Katara also hosts a number of religious lectures and lessons at Katara Mosque after Taraweeh prayers in co-operation with Sheikh Abdulla bin Zayid al-Mahmoud Centre and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf). The sports activities during the month include Ramadan Chess Tournament, Folk Games, e-games and other games. Other competitions include those for the best costume for Garangao and short stories.
The literary and cultural activities would address various topics on some prominent writers and authors, and poets from a number of Arab countries in addition to the Arab Café activity and Ibn Al Raeeb Street. There are some dedicated forums to discuss publications by Katara publishing house, and a number of varied arts workshops for children at buildings 18 and 19 with a focus on formative arts and Arabic calligraphy.
