The Ministry of Labour organised on Sunday a meeting with labour attaches at the embassies of labour-sending countries, and a number of heads and representatives of labour communities in the country, aimed at enhancing and developing joint co-operation, QNA reported from Doha.
The meeting highlighted the developments in the work environment in Qatar, the latest updates in the Labour Law with regard to changing the employer and raising the minimum wage, in addition to the continuous efforts made by the ministry to raise awareness among workers on various issues, its periodic inspection campaigns at work and accommodation sites in order to introduce the ministry's activities and tasks, and to ensure the implementation of the Labour Law.
Present at the meeting were Mohamed Hassan al-Obaidli, Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs, and other officials from the Ministry of Labour.
The meeting affirmed continued co-operation and co-ordination, and the organisation of more periodic meetings between representatives of the ministry and representatives of labour communities and attaches for co-operation and co-ordination in the interest of workers and employers.
The labour attaches and representatives of the labour communities praised the role of the Ministry of Labor in resolving labour disputes and complaints, stressing their keenness to continue co-operation and co-ordination with the ministry.
