The ongoing beautification and pedestrian and bicycle paths works on D-Ring Road will be completed by the third quarter of 2022, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has said, according to local Arabic daily Arrayah.
Ashghal said this in response to an Arrayah report about the concerns of some Al Hilal residents about truck movements in the area. “Ashghal has confirmed that the work team supervising the development of D-Ring Road periodically monitors the movement of trucks throughout the day, in addition to training drivers and guiding them to abide by the instructions and driving rules in order to ensure safety,” the report said.
“Ashghal is keen to develop and establish an integrated network of roads as part of the comprehensive plan that aims to achieve a developed highway network linking all regions in the country, and the development of D-Ring Road is an important link as it integrates with developed roads such as Rawdat Al Khail Street and E-Ring Road, Mesaimeer Intersection and Najma Street to serve densely populated areas such as Old Airport and Nuaija,” the authority explained.
Ashghal had started the development of D-Ring Road during the fourth quarter of 2020 and the project has involved about 5mn working hours without an injury so far, due to the health and safety measures that it has adopted.
