* No ban on residents' entry during World Cup: SC official

An official from the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) has dismissed rumours that citizens and residents will not be allowed to return to Qatar if they travelled out of the country immediately before or during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Speaking to Qatar TV, the SC's official spokesperson Khalid al-Naama said the travel movements and entry and exit of citizens and residents will not be affected by the World Cup.
“We hope they will attend the tournament with us. We wish them not to travel. But the rumours are not true,” he said.
The World Cup is scheduled to be held from November 21 to December 18.
There have been rumours among residents saying it will be difficult for them to travel in the few months preceding the World Cup as they will not be allowed to return to the country until the mega event is over.
Al-Naama said preparations for hosting the World Cup are nearly 100% complete and only the issue of fans' experience remains.
“Work in government departments during the mega event will not be disrupted. If some parties feel there is some difficulty for employees to access their workplace, appropriate solutions can be found,” he said, adding that remote work is a solution as it was opted for by several companies during the Covid-19 pandemic.
"The scope of our work at the SC is related to the World Cup stadiums and training grounds, and these have been fully completed. There is co-ordination between the SC and authorities such as the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Ministry of Transport and the Traffic Department regarding road closures and infrastructure development," he added.
Khaled al-Suwaidi, the SC's Stakeholder Relations senior manager, said there will be many events accompanying the World Cup and the details of these will be announced soon.
