The Cabinet on Wednesday approved , in principle, a draft law on documents and archives that aims to regulate the handling, classification, preservation and protection of public, historical, national and other documents.
The Cabinet also approved, in principle, a draft Amiri decision regulating the Qatar National Archive.
The National Archive aims to organise the collection and preservation of documents and archives, classify their confidentiality, and supervise them. In order to achieve this, it has the right to exercise all the powers and competencies necessary to achieve its objectives.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, HE the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Sulaiti in a statement said at the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet listened to the explanation given by HE Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari on the latest developments to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19). The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures that have been taken to combat the pandemic.
After that, the Cabinet considered the topics on the agenda. It was decided to take the necessary measures to ratify an agreement on canceling visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and special passports between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Cabinet also approved a draft memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of civil aviation between the Civil Aviation Authority in the State of Qatar and the Civil Aviation Commission of Latin American countries. (QNA)
