Qatar National Library recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to promote knowledge and learning through cultural exchanges, events and community development in Qatar.
The MoU outlines cooperation between the two institutions in various areas, including the exchange of educational, research and publication materials, as well as knowledge and cultural exchange programmes and event participation.
QNL and HMC will further work on mutual areas of common interest, including scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.
The MoU was signed between Tan Huism, executive director QNL and Nasser al-Naimi, HMC’s deputy chief quality officer for the Centre for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement and director of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Ali Abdullah al-Khater, chief communication officer; Dr Hanadi Khamis al-Hamad, medical director at Rumailah Hospital & QRI chairperson of Geriatrics and Long Term Care Department and Nayef al-Shamari, executive director of the Media Department at HMC. Lolwa al-Naemi, director of Strategic Planning and Projects and Abeer Saad al-Kuwari, director of Research and Learning Services at QNL also attended.
Huism said the MoU will strengthen the cooperation between the Library and HMC." QNL seeks partnerships and collaborations which enhance what we offer to our community, and this collaboration will provide our members with additional educational materials and programmes.”
Al-Naimi explained that the partnership with QNL reinforces HMC’s holistic approach to delivering person-centred care by giving patients, families and staff a form of recreation to reduce stress while inside the hospital through its Patient Library programme initiated by the Centre for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement.
“Our long-term plan is to expand the number of libraries we have across all HMC facilities. Currently, the Patient Library is available at the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, Ambulatory Care Centre, and Enaya Specialised Care Centre. We thank QNL for their support of this aim and we look forward to helping enrich the lives of our patients, families, and staff,” he added.
