The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has taken the precautionary measures against Buitoni Fraich Up frozen pizza due to the possibility of contamination of certain batches with Shiga toxin produced by E. coli.
This came after the ministry received a notification from the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed in this regard, the MoPH said in a statement on Monday.
The MoPH, on receiving the notification, contacted the supplier to withdraw the suspected items from the markets and samples were taken for laboratory analysis.
As part of additional precautionary measures, it has been circulated to outlets not to release any consignment of suspected pizza unless samples have been taken and its safety and suitability for human consumption has been proven.
The MoPH has urged citizens and residents not to consume any of the suspected types of pizza, the details of which are given below, and to report to their health centre if any symptoms related to food poisoning are suspected, such as fever or diarrhoea.
